Sumner County Family Care Center Leverages LED Digital Signage to Enhance Community Engagement

Sumner County Family Care Center (SCFCC), a full-service family medical practice in Wellington, Kansas, serves residents of this small town located about 35 miles south of Wichita. With a dedicated team of family physicians, registered nurses, and support staff, SCFCC is committed to providing exceptional care to its community.

The SCFCC office is strategically located on a roundabout along the city’s primary thoroughfare, ensuring maximum visibility. Nearly all of Wellington’s daily traffic passes by the facility, as well as neighboring medical businesses. This prime location presented an excellent opportunity to leverage LED digital signage for effective community engagement.

As the practice expanded its services and facilities, the partners sought innovative ways to market their offerings to current and prospective patients. Traditional advertising options were limited in this small-town setting. “We didn’t have a lot of ways to reach people with our messages,” said Dr. Lacie Gregory. “Our community newspaper stopped publishing years ago, and radio and TV aren’t feasible due to their unnecessary out-of-town reach.”

As the partners in the practice continued to expand their services and improve their facilities, they began looking for ways to effectively market their full suite of offerings to current and prospective patients.

Recognizing the need for a modern, impactful solution, the SCFCC team approached Wichita Sign Company to upgrade their static sign cabinet. “For starters, we needed a more professional-looking sign,” Gregory explained. “We also knew that an Electronic Message Center would be a great way to keep everyone informed about what’s happening.”

The proposed solution included a sleek, multi-tenant monument sign featuring a high-definition Next LED digital display. The full-color, 10mm LED sign now promotes new providers, expanded services, and local community events. “It’s important for us to stay connected with the town,” Gregory said. “A big part of our messaging focuses on events happening at schools, non-profits, and across the community.”

To further optimize their signage operations, SCFCC subscribes to the Ultimate Package from Project Content, a comprehensive content creation and scheduling service. “This was really a business decision,” Gregory stated. “As a busy medical clinic, we don’t have in-house graphic design talent. The time we save with Project Content™ more than pays for the subscription.”

Since its installation in early 2019, the LED monument sign has become a centerpiece of SCFCC’s communication strategy. “There isn’t a day that goes by without positive comments from our patients about the sign,” Gregory shared. “It’s been a significant benefit for both the clinic and the Wellington community.”

With its vibrant LED display and dynamic messaging capabilities, SCFCC’s sign has transformed how the practice engages with its audience, proving that digital signage is an indispensable tool for modern marketing in small-town settings.

Among the various types of LEDs, SMD (Surface Mounted Devices) and DIP (Dual Inline Package) LEDs stand out as the most common technologies. While they share the same foundational principles, they bring unique advantages to the table.
