As technology continually transforms how we connect and interact, Wellington High School (WHS) has taken a significant leap forward with the installation of state-of-the-art digital scoreboards. These advanced displays are not merely tools for tracking game scores; they are revolutionizing the way school and community events are experienced.
The era of static scoreboards is now a thing of the past. WHS’s new STAX displays serve as versatile platforms capable of much more than simply displaying scores. These dynamic scoreboards can showcase game highlights, real-time statistics, instant replays, and custom graphics, offering a wealth of opportunities for engagement and creativity. Picture them as a fusion of a television and a computer screen, equipped with a built-in 35-second shot clock and a forward-looking vision. With potential upgrades on the horizon, including the adoption of this technology across a broader range of events at WHS, the impact of these scoreboards is just beginning to unfold.
Members of the Crusader Club have expressed their enthusiasm for the scoreboard’s potential to make a lasting impact on WHS students, parents, coaches, and fans. Their fundraising efforts extended beyond acquiring the scoreboards; they also facilitated the purchase of specialized software and equipment to enhance the functionality of these digital displays.
The driving force behind this innovative project has been a collaborative effort that spans several years. The Crusader Club, Wellington’s business community, and individual donors have all played pivotal roles in securing the necessary funding. This year, the project received additional support from Impact Bank, Bank of Commerce, and Shelter Insurance, which contributed by purchasing advertising packages to help realize this vision.
Looking forward, plans are in place to upgrade the smaller scoreboards around the gym to align with the new auxiliary system, ensuring a cohesive experience throughout the facility.
